The government of the Republic of The Gambia has learnt with concern the breach of security at the military barracks at Wilberforce in Freetown in early hours of Sunday 26th November 2023, by unidentified individuals with the intention of acquiring arms to threaten the peace and stability of Sierra Leone. The Republic of The Gambia condemns this deplorable acts and supports the efforts being deployed to contain and address the situation.
The Gambia stands in solidarity with the government and People of The Republic of Sierra Leone during this difficult period and expresses her zero-tolerance and all acts to cause instability and thread to peace.
On the excellence relations between Republic of The Gambia and Republic of Sierra Leone, the Government of The Gambia assures its unyielding supporting the Government and people of sister republic of Sierra Leone to consolidate the democracy and good governance it has so far nutured.
The Gambia applauds the manner in which the government of Sierra Leone is handling the situation and as we pray for everlasting peace, security and stability for Sierra Leone and the entire ECOWAS sub-region and beyond, we call on the international community to support the current efforts being made by the Government of Sierra Leone to consolidate the gains made by this great Nation in sustaining constitutional order, rule of law, human rights and lasting peace and stability.
