Following the tragic fatal road accident at Lamin Koto village in CRR leading to the dead of seven [7] lives and multiple injuries to others, the police have initiated a
detailed investigation to comprehensively determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
Contrary to the information making headlines on social media, preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle in question crossed the ferry over to Lamin Koto via JanjangBureh on Friday the 7th Dec. 2023.
Reportedly, the vehicle developed a mechanical breakdown on the ferry. Subsequently, the driver managed to move it from the ferry to a nearby mechanic garage for services. The vehicle was reportedly at the garage until Saturday night when the driver decided to leave the garage heading in the direction of Jarumeh.
It is important to clarify that there was no police checkpoint between the point of departure and the accident scene. It was during this second phase of the journey that the unfortunate and regrettable incident happened.
The police command extends condolences to the families of the departed souls and further assure all and sundry of a thorough probe into the incident with a view to judiciously address the matter.
