A veteran Gambia reggae musician Demba Conta based in Sweden since early 1970s has passed away earlier today in Sweden and burial arrangement will be announced according to family members in Bundung.
The Sweden-based Gambian reggae man started music in the 1970s.
Born in Yonna in Sami District, Central River Region, Conta was a sailor and travelled around the globe.
He has produced several albums, including the hits ‘Monkey Business’, United States of Africa, and Rule the World.
He spent the past decades fighting dictatorship in the Gambia during the Jammeh era and was also critical of rampant corruption in the Barrow government.
