A governor was appointed for Banjul a fortnight ago .
As custodians of council, We’ve talked and worked on a range of issues but not for once did we usher a word about that appointment . With all due respect, we haven’t talked about it and we won’t talk about it in the foreseeable future.
We’ve been given a mandate to improve the lives and livelihoods of a people living in a country where hunger is looming due to an ailing economy , the last thing expected of us is to conduct press conferences while giving media houses the platform to initiate an imaginary power struggle that doesn’t exist in the first place.
6 months after reelection, we are closely monitoring Our EU funded Crab Island technical training component which is in its final stage of construction and due to be inaugurated this December when the Mayor of Oostende Belgium visits to celebrate 20 years of his city’s twinning agreement with Banjul .
We have also secured funding from the EU to fence the entire dumpsite at Mile 2 and work shall commence in a month time before we make plans to include an office space and a pavement at the site .
The UNDP The Gambia is set to formalize the appointment of a consultant for our youth volunteerism project which facilitates the travel of 500 impatient young Banjullians that are ready to explore the world and thrive . Waste management have been a problem in Banjul off late and we are edging ever closer into lasting solutions.
To whom much is given, Much is expected…
With so much food on our table , complacency & distraction is just not an option.
