H.E Adama Barrow received the outgoing High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to The Gambia, Muhammed Manu, at the State House in Banjul.
The President thanked the government of Nigeria for the brotherly relations and the technical support for the Health, Education and Judicial sectors.
He thanked Nigeria as a big brother, providing professional training to Gambians while acknowledging Nigeria’s leadership role in ECOWAS.
High Commissioner Manu thanked the President for receiving him and extended greetings from President Bola Tinubu.
H.C Manu said he discovered the hospitable nature of Gambians and the gestures accorded to him. He applauded the partnership between the two countries to develop potential in Agriculture while pledging to continue the cause beneficial to both countries.
Permanent Secretary at MoFA, Ambassador Lang Yarboe, said the two countries have a long history in higher education, businesses and managing the relationship between the two countries.
He recalled Nigeria’s support for The Gambia’s bid for ECOWAS’ presidency and their offer to evacuate Gambians from Sudan.
During H.C Manu’s tenure, the support for the training of Military and prison officers, amongst others, increased.
