The National Coordinating Committee (NCC) for AFCON 2023 holds its maiden press conference were the press were briefed regarding preparations for the country’s second AFCON appearance.
According to the chairperson of the publicity subcommittee Mr Musa Sise ,after reviewing the budget by the finance subcommittee 388, 000,000 million dalasi (Three Hundred and Eighty Eight Million Dalasi ) is the total budget needed. In his statement he further said that a team of four(4) will travel to Cote D’ivoire this Saturday for fact finding mission for accommodation, feeding, local transport and other logistics.
According to Mr Sise letters requesting for partnership and support has been dispatched to potential partners.
Regarding the area of fundraising, the committee intends to organize fundraising activities with different Gambian Artist and comedians.
He urges all stakeholders to support their mama land in this; as they are targeting tangible partners who can at least provide ten million dalasis. He added that there is a reward of 3 Air tickets and special care for any company that is willing to make a collaboration.
For his part Mr Lamin Kabba Bajo, president of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) emphasized the importance of investing in AFCON 2023. He said that all the monies spent in the AFCON worth it as they are going with the slogan of YOKA CHEREH DOLY NYEK which hopes to gain more outcomes. This will motivate the players to excel in the AFCON. He implore on all Gambians to support the NCC in its drive to raise the required funds for a successful AFCON.
