IT’S NOT PERSONAL, IT’S ABOUT THE RECORDS AND THE FACTS

These are among the many reasons I believe President Kaw Barrow should NOT be given another five years.
In 2016, Barrow came to power promising a three-year transition. Nearly 10 years later, he now wants another five.
He told us that he would not work with those who closely worked with the former president, he end up appointing the Speaker and Deputy Speaker who denied him the opportunity to sworn in the Gambia.
He promised Brikama streetlights with free Wi-Fi. Brikama is still waiting.
He said the construction of the Banjul–Barra Bridge would begin in 2019. It’s 2026 and still no bridge.
He promised Gambians that basics commodities such as rice, sugar and flour would become cheaper. Today, families are paying far more.
He inherited a national debt reportedly below D50 billion. Today, that debt has climbed beyond D120 billion, almost triple the debt left by Jawara and Jammeh 52yr rule.
We were promised a 1,500-bed hospital at Busumbala. What happened to that promise and the original scale of the project? We end getting a world Bank project with less than 500 beds.
He told us Audit reports are mere opinions, he later forced out the Auditor General and the Supreme Court ruled that was unconstitutional and awarded him over D10M of our poor Taxpayers money in compensation.
Just like the Nyancho aka apachaky song, civil servants working since Jawara time are struggling to get a decent home to live in but our Ministers and top officials in few years are constructing storey buildings.
Kaw Barrow told us that NAWEC would produce surplus electricity enough even to export once they completed synchronisation.
Yet Gambians still suffer power outages and the President is now begging for additional electricity supply from Dumbuya of Guinea after pending over $400M on NAWEC from 2017 to date.
Barrow himself once spoke about sealing a two-term Presidential limits in his video below. Today, he wants a third term.
This is not hatred. It is not personal. Leadership must be judged by their promises made, promises kept, and the condition of the country after nearly a decade in power.
Sadly Kaw Barrow words are like a WhatsApp Status and last for only 24hrs. For me, 10 years is enough and what about you?
Comment ONE reason below why you believe President Barrow should be or should not be elected for another term.
