”I WAS NEVER GEP’S CAMPAIGN MANAGER” — MARR NYANG FIRES BACK
Gambia Participates Executive Director Marr Nyang has firmly rejected claims that he previously served as campaign manager or political strategist for the Golden Era Party, insisting that he has never worked for any political party.
“I have never been a campaign manager for any political party, including the Golden Era Party. I have never been a staff member of GEP, and I will never be, or of any other party,” Nyang told Bitilo.
Nyang explained that GEP’s agreement was with Project and Results Consulting Company, a private consultancy he co-owns. He said he participated in the engagement as one of the company’s consultants, not as an employee or political strategist of GEP.
According to Nyang, the consultancy accepted the contract only after GEP agreed that its work would remain non-political. He said the relationship ended when the party allegedly sought greater political involvement from the consultants.
“They wanted us to be more political, and I said ‘no.’ They said that didn’t favor them, so we cancelled the agreement,” he said.
Nyang also disputed the amount being circulated, saying the agreement was worth US$2,500—not US$8,000.
Rejecting suggestions of a conflict of interest, he maintained that the consultancy was separate from Gambia Participates and that no employee of the organization was involved in the engagement.
