ESSA FAAL, BARROW’S NPP IN ALLIANCE TALKS

APP-Sobeyaa presidential candidate Essa Mbye Faal is reportedly in talks with President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP) over a possible political alliance ahead of the December 5 presidential election, according to Kerr Fatou, citing multiple sources familiar with the discussions.
Kerr Fatou reports that senior NPP figures have made overtures to Faal in recent weeks, with discussions said to have progressed.
The reported negotiations come after Faal’s talks with the United Democratic Party (UDP) over a possible opposition alliance ended without an agreement.
Sources cited by Kerr Fatou also claim Faal sought consideration for the vice-presidential position in a UDP-led arrangement, although the outlet says it has not independently confirmed that detail.
The reported NPP talks could mark a major turn in the coalition negotiations ahead of the election, particularly given Faal’s previous criticism of the Barrow administration.
No formal agreement has been announced by either APP-Sobeyaa or the NPP.
