“The Maths Doesn’t Add Up”: Barrow Government Faces Backlash Over Vehicle Handovers Amid Crisis

People can no longer understand why they should watch a President hand over vehicles worth millions of dalasis to individuals in what appears to be a bid to strengthen his re-election campaign, while ordinary Gambians struggle to access the most basic necessities of life.
For more than 24 hours, families can be left without reliable electricity and water. Hospitals struggle. Patients undergoing critical procedures face the terrifying consequences of power interruptions. Those dependent on oxygen and other life-saving equipment are placed at unimaginable risk.
Yet, amid these hardships, the same struggling population watches expensive vehicles being handed to individuals to mobilise political support and campaign for the President’s re-election.
The maths simply does not add up!!!
How do you justify millions for political mobilisation when hospitals need reliable electricity?
How do you justify luxury vehicles when communities cannot get water?How do you ask citizens to celebrate political generosity when families are struggling to meet their most basic needs?
Leadership must be measured by the condition of the people, not by the number of vehicles handed out to political supporters.The priorities are wrong. The suffering is real. The frustration is growing.
The Gambia must be rescued from the clutches of failed priorities and returned to a path where the welfare, dignity and survival of its people come first.
What we saw last night and the early hours of this morning are the birth signs of the end to failed governance. The masses are fed up and tired.
