“I’m Not Here for Favourites”: Powerful Message Calls for Unity in Gambian Music Industry

I don’t have a favourite artist, and I don’t support individual artists based on friendships, popularity, or personal feelings. I’m here for the industry.

My mission is bigger than choosing sides. I’m here to support Gambian music as a whole, every artist, every producer, every DJ, every promoter, every content creator, and everyone genuinely contributing to the growth of our music industry. That’s the code I live by.

My mindset is different. I don’t believe in supporting only the people I know or the artists I personally like. If you’re doing good music, working hard, representing The Gambia, and contributing something positive to the culture, you deserve your flowers.

Respect is everything to me. I will support you if I see the effort, the talent, the consistency, and most importantly, the respect. I don’t need to be your friend to appreciate your work, and I don’t need to dislike someone to acknowledge their greatness.

At the end of the day, it’s not about “my artist” or “your artist.” It’s about OUR industry.

When one Gambian artist wins, Gambian music wins. When one song crosses borders, our culture travels with it. When one artist gets international recognition, it creates opportunities and opens doors for the next person coming behind.

So don’t expect me to pick sides. Don’t expect me to tear one person down just to lift another person up. I’m here to support everyone who deserves support, regardless of their camp, their crew, their genre, or their status.

I’m not here for favourites. I’m here for the culture. I’m here for the growth. I’m here for Gambian music. And that’s code.
