Kemo Ceesay Takes Charge of GFF as Lamin Kaba Bajoβs 12-Year Era Comes to an End
The President of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Mr Kemo Ceesay, today assumed administrative authority of the Federation in a colourful handing over ceremony at the Football House. Accompanied by his newly elected Executive Committee and a member of the Team Coach, President Ceesay took over the leadership from Lamin Kabba Bajo, who retires after 12 years of service to the GFF.
In his welcome remarks, the General Secretary, Lamin M. Jassey, thanked the Electoral Committee, stakeholders, the media, and all partners for their role in the process leading to this democratic transfer of power from one president to the other. He assured that the GFF Secretariat remains committed to supporting the new leadership to ensure the continued development of the game.
Outgoing President Lamin Kaba Bajo thanked stakeholders for their support throughout his tenure. He congratulated the new leadership and described the day as historic. Mr Bajo highlighted key achievements, including the establishment of legal frameworks such as term limits, and commended the Electoral Committee for conducting fair, transparent and peaceful elections. He urged the public and stakeholders to rally behind the new leadership, adding that the success of President Ceesay and his team is the success of Gambian football.
In his acceptance remarks, President Kemo Ceesay said he officially assumed responsibility for the affairs of the GFF, effective today. He reaffirmed his commitment to football development in The Gambia. As a gesture of appreciation, President Ceesay presented a certificate of merit to the outgoing president, and the GFF Secretariat, through the General Secretary, made a similar presentation.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of the handover documents, marking the start of a new era of football governance in The Gambia. The new executive was also given a tour of the GFF Secretariat.
