APP-SOBEYAA REAFFIRMS ITS INSTITUTIONAL MANDATE AND COALITION ENGAGEMENT PROCESS

APP-Sobeyaa wishes to reaffirm that it is a legitimate Gambian political party with established structures across the country and operates as an institution under the mandate of its Congress.

The Party does not revolve around any individual. As with any healthy democratic organisation, differences of opinion may arise, but such differences should not be misconstrued as hostility or division.

The Party Executive has been mandated by Congress to explore and engage in discussions with political parties and formations on possible alliances and coalition arrangements in the national interest and in the interest of APP-Sobeyaa. This mandate explains the Party’s engagement with the various coalition and alliance initiatives currently taking place in the country, including the NPP.

The Executive’s responsibility is to listen, engage, assess and report back to the Party for consideration. The ultimate decision on APP-Sobeyaa’s position ahead of the 2026 Presidential Election rests with the Party’s Congress and not with any individual.

In accordance with this mandate, the Party has designated its National Spokesperson and Lead Negotiator, Mr. Ousainou Bobb, as the focal point for coalition discussions and approaches made to the Party. His responsibility is to engage on behalf of the Party, communicate the Party’s position where mandated, and report the outcome of such engagements to the Executive and ultimately to Congress for consideration.

APP-Sobeyaa therefore urges the public, its supporters and the media to distinguish between political engagement, internal democratic processes and final Party decisions.

APP-Sobeyaa will not be bullied or swayed by insults, intimidation or social media pressure. The Party will make its political decisions independently, guided solely by what it believes is in the best interest of The Gambia, the Gambian people and the Party.

WE WILL LISTEN TO EVERYONE, BUT NO ONE WILL DICTATE TO US.

With regards to the Party’s recent alliance talks or engagements with other parties, APP-SOBEYAA will, as soon as possible, publicly announce its final decisions after the necessary consultations with relevant Party structures and the Executive.

We urge patience from all interested parties.
