Nurse Robbed on Way Home, Recounts Striking Encounter With Alleged Robber

A healthcare worker identified as Nyima Sanyang says she was robbed by a group of individuals while returning home from work at a hospital last night.

According to Sanyang, the incident resulted in the loss of her bag, which contained her identification card, nursing licence, wallet with money, and other important personal documents and belongings.

She is appealing to members of the public to contact her if any of the missing documents, particularly her ID card or nursing licence, are found.

The incident also brought back memories of a similar robbery Sanyang said she experienced in 2025, when some of her belongings were stolen. She later recovered the items following an unexpected encounter at the hospital.

Sanyang said that, within weeks of the robbery, a person she believed was involved in the incident was brought to the hospital as a patient after reportedly sustaining injuries in another alleged crime. She said she recognised the individual and found herself in the unusual position of providing care to someone she believed had previously robbed her.

For Sanyang, the experience was a reminder of the unpredictable circumstances healthcare workers can face both inside and outside the workplace.

She said healthcare professionals are trained to care for patients regardless of their background or circumstances, but stressed that this does not diminish the security concerns faced by workers travelling home after long shifts, particularly at night.

Sanyang has urged the public to remain vigilant and take precautions when travelling at night.
